While looking for something else I found this item from The Dallas Morning News and I wanted to share it. The narrative of the story is not as interesting to me as the photos that went with it.
1.) Accompanied
by Secret Service agent Rufus Youngblood (left), Vice President Lyndon Johnson
and U.S. Rep. Homer Thornberry leave Parkland Hospital in Dallas after the
death of Kennedy.
2.) For the
second time in an hour, someone climbs over the seat and shields Lyndon Johnson
from potential gunfire. Leaving Parkland Hospital an hour after the
assassination of John F. Kennedy, Rep. Homer Thornberry climbs into the back
seat while Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry drives Lyndon Johnson to Love Field.

3.) Rep. Homer Thornberry
(in black hat) and Secret Service Agent Rufus Youngblood sit on both sides of
Lyndon Johnson as he crouches down below window level. In the back seat of
Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry's car, they depart Parkland Hospital for Love
Field on Nov. 22, 1963. (Joe Laird/The Dallas Morning News)
4.) Pulling
away with Rep. Thornberry in the front seat, the car is waved down by Houston
Rep. Albert Thomas who does not realize the new president is inside. Agent
Youngblood tells Curry to keep going but is overruled by LBJ who says, “Stop
and let him in. It’s all right.” (Dallas Times Herald Collection, courtesy The
Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza)
5.) The
crown of new President Lyndon Johnson's head pops up above the rear deck as he
and his party drive away from Parkland Hospital to Love Field on Nov. 22, 1963.
