Louis Ritter, former Jacksonville mayor, dies at 84

"After his defeat, [for mayor in 1967] Mr. Ritter, who had befriended John F. Kennedy in 1958 and then helped run JFK's Florida presidential campaign in 1960, joined Lyndon Johnson's administration. He served as executive assistant to Sargent Shriver, director of the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity."
