More on Doug Weldon



Doug was born August 10, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Alph and Betsy (Williams) Weldon and passed away January 5, 2012, in Kalamazoo. He was a longtime resident of Kalamazoo. Doug received his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Cooley Law School, serving as an attorney for Kalamazoo County Court System for many years and was Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University. He was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church and the Michigan Bar Association. Doug was an avid runner, tennis coach and player for many years, JFK researcher, and was a published author. Surviving are his three children, Amanda (James) Fox of Lebanon, OH, Derek Weldon of Kalamazoo and Erin Weldon of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Jazelle, Elyse and Carter Fox; his fiancĂ©e, Tetyana Koshmanova; two sisters, Laurie Church and Mary Al-Kethairi; a brother, Dan (Anita) Weldon; his former wives, Dorothy Wray and Joan Crowhurst; and several nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alph and Betsy Weldon. A private family committal service will be held in Riverside Cemetery. A Memorial Service to celebrate Doug's life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 15, at Westwood United Methodist Church (538 Nichols Rd.) with Rev. Dr. Wayne Price officiating. Immediately following the service the family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Doug's memory be directed to Kalamazoo County Child Abuse and Neglect Council, 420 E. Alcott, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
